NH Snowmobile Trails News & Information

We appreciate your support and interest in snowmobiling in New Hampshire and hope to see you on the trails again next season!

Please Note:
Effective July 1, 2002 - House Bill 1348, Chapter 253: Everyone who registers a snowmobile in New Hampshire needs to show proof of membership with a New Hampshire snowmobile club affiliated with the New Hampshire Snowmobile Association, or pay an extra $30.00 per snowmobile.

The extra $30.00 supports the state-managed Grant-In-Aid program, which goes directly back to the clubs for trail maintenance and construction projects to maintain the snowmobile trails for the snowmobile rider. (See breakdown of registration fees)

For more information contact the New Hampshire Snowmobile Association, 224-8906 or New Hampshire Fish and Game, 271-3129.

Next Season's Reports
The 2006/2007 snowmobiling season's Trails Conditions Reports will start sometime in early December, or as soon as there is enough snow cover for the trails to be groomed.
Summer Activities on the Trails
grader
The summer and fall seasons aren't a slack time for the snowmobile clubs that maintain the trails throughout New Hampshire. In preparation for the 2006/2007 snowmobile-riding season, the volunteer snowmobile club members will be diligently working to repair existing trails, reroute trails, and build new trails. The summer and fall seasons are when the clubs utilize all of the volunteer help they can get to complete their construction and maintenance projects in anticipation of an improved trail system for the next snowmobiling season.

Funding for the Trails

Where do these non-profit clubs get the funding for their projects? The clubs will apply for funding through the Grant-In-Aid program to help pay for their new projects, repairs, and to purchase trail maintenance equipment. The funding for the Grant-In-Aid program comes from your snowmobile registrations and un-refunded gas tax.
Landowner/Club Partnerships

The landowner/club partnerships are vital for continued use of private land for New Hampshire's trail system. The volunteer club members will meet with the private landowners to address any questions/concerns they have about public use of their property.
Respect for the private landowner will ensure the continued use of these private land bases for New Hampshire's trail system.

Join a Club!

If you enjoy riding the trails, you might consider volunteering some time with your club in the area that you most enjoy riding. Most clubs usually only have a handful of volunteers who carry the workload for all of the projects that the clubs are involved in. New members offer fresh perspectives and enthusiasm for the clubs activities.
